Canada's Province of Prince Edward Island introduced Bill 44, Islander Day Act, which will amend the Employment Standards Act to introduce an additional statutory public holiday, known as Islander Day, on the second Monday in February throughout the province.

The addition of this provincial public holiday, announced after the last provincial elections (06-Apr-2008), will bring the total number of paid holidays in Canada's Province of Prince Edward Island to seven.
