Ecuador's President, Rafael Correa, called a press conference last night to deny the recent rumours of upcoming extended bank holidays (feriado bancario) and de-pegging of the local currency from the US dollar.
Ever since the 1999 emergency bank holiday (08-Mar-1999), there have been regular rumours of another impending bank holiday (15-Mar-2007).
