Gambia Announces December 9 Eid al-Adha Public Holiday

(Posted on Thursday, December 4, 2008)

Source: The Gambia Journal (Banjul)

The Supreme Islamic Council of the Gambia has declared that the Muslim feast of Eid-Al- Adha, otherwise known as Tobaski (or Feast of Sacrifice), will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, in The Gambia.

Note that, in addition of the name Tobaski, generally used in Africa, instead of the Arabic Eid al-Adha, it would seem that, in the Gambia, another name for the Feast of Sacrifice is Bana Salo.
