Ghana's Minister of the Interior, Dr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, confirmed that this year's Eid-ul-Adha public holiday would be observed on Monday, December 8, 2008, as had been announced earlier.
The same announcement reminded people that although this year's Farmers' Day had been observed on November 7 (06-Nov-2008), the associated public holiday would be observed on Friday, December 5 as per the usual observance rules.
A similar dissociation of the Farmers' Day events from the actual Farmers' Day non-working public holiday, has occurred, in the past (26-Nov-2004, 25-Oct-2004 and 27-Oct-2000), as presidential elections in Ghana are set to the fixed date of December 7, every 4 years.
All financial institutions will be closed on December 5 and 8, and no trading or settlement will take place.
