Gibraltar Unions Call For Restoration Of May 1st Public Holiday

(Posted on Tuesday, April 29, 2008)

The TUC union has renewed its calls asking the Government to re-establish the 1st of May as the Labour Day public holiday.

The date of the May Day public holiday was moved from May 1st to the first Monday in May, starting in 2007 (10-Nov-2006 and 09-Nov-2006) and this was maintained in last year's (20-Sep-2007) "Bank and Public Holidays Order, 2007" (LN. 2007/113), which specified the list of official bank holidays and public holidays in Gibraltar for the calendar year 2008.
