The Lieutenant Governor of India's Puducherry State, Govind Singh Gurjar, announced that Friday, September 12, 2008, would be a public holiday for the Union territory on account of "Onam", the harvest festival of Kerala, instead of the restricted holiday, previously announced. In compensation, Saturday, September 27, 2008, will be a regular working day.
