India's Punjab State government has declared this afternoon a public holiday in Government offices, Corporations, Boards and Educational institutions and in the city of Chandigarh.
This was done to allow employees to take part in the Nagar Kirtan procession to be held today for the birthday of Mahan-rishi Valmiki.
