Jordan Announces Year-End Public Sector Holidays

Two recent communiqués issued by Prime Minister Nader Dahabi have confirmed the dates and occurrence of the 3 public holidays that will occur at the end of December 2008 and the beginning of January 2009.

Thursday, December 25, 2008 will be observed as Christmas, while Monday, December 29, 2008, will also be an official holiday, on the occasion of Al Hijra New Year.

Finally, Thursday, January 1, 2009, will be a public holiday on the occasion of the western new year. As such, all ministries, government departments and public institutions will be closed.
