The government of Kazakhstan has announced that it would not exchange any working days to link the December 16-17 Independence Day public holidays to the December 13-14 weekend.
Kazakhstan often moves one of the nearby weekend non-working days to adjoin mid-week fixed-date public holidays to create a longer-lasting public holidays period (see, for example, 21-Apr-2008 and 21-Nov-2007), but there have been some occasion when this was not done (25-Aug-2006).
