Kyrgyzstan Changes Date Of Kurman Ait Public Holiday

(Posted on Wednesday, November 19, 2008)

Source: 24.kg News Agency (Bishkek)

The Spiritual Leadership of Kyrgyz Muslims reported yesterday that the date of the upcoming Kurman Ait non-working public holiday (aka. Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice) would be Monday, December 8, 2008, rather than December 9 as had been announced by the government since the beginning of the year.

This is the second time this year (26-Sep-2008) that the previously announced date of one of the Eid public holidays is brought forward by one day, matching the date observed in the Gulf Region using the Umm al-Qura Saudi calendar.
