Yesterday afternoon, Lebanon's Prime Minister’s office issued a memorandum declaring a three-day public holiday for Eid al-Adha, from Monday, December 8, until Wednesday, December 10, 2008, instead of the usual 2-day public holiday.
Apparently, this follows Lebanon's Higher Shiite Council’s announcement that Eid el-Adha would start on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. As Monday had already been declared a public holiday, it was too late to reconsider, and thus an extra day of public holiday was given for this year.
