Following yesterday's Conseil des Ministres chaired by President Marc Ravalomanana, the official list of 2008 public holidays in Madagascar was announced, as per the Décret fixant la liste des jours fériés, chômés et payés au titre de l’an,née 2008.
Most notably, no additional public holiday was granted to compensate the fact that both the Ascension and May 1st public holidays occur on the same date in 2008, as compared to previous years (09-Jan-2007).
However, as was the case last year (09-Jan-2007), the decree allows and specifies 2 one-off bridge public holidays.
