Malawi's President, Bingu wa Mutharika, has announced that from this year onward, Malawi's Mothers' Day public holiday would be observed jointly with the UN-designated World Rural Women’s Day, and on the date of the UN day, October 15.
Previously, Malawi's Mothers' Day public holiday was observed on the second Monday of October.
