Pakistan Declares Public Holiday For Anniversary Of Benazir Bhutto's Death

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), throgh Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has announced that Saturday, December 27, 2008, would be observed as a one-off nationwide public holiday to pay homage to former prime minster Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on the first anniversary of her death.

This was announced by PPP secretary general Jahangir Badr and information minister Sherry Rehman while addressing a press conference here Thursday in PPP central secretariat after party executive committee meeting.

Note that December 25 and, to a lesser extent, December 26, are already annual public holidays in Pakistan.
