Pakistan's Sindh Declares New Annual Public Holiday

The Cabinet of Pakistan's Province of Sindh has decided to declare December 27 a public holiday in the province to mark the first anniversary of the death of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto.

Provincial Information Minister Shazia Marri went on to announce that "this holiday will be observed every year" the cabinet had decided to recommend to the federal government that it declare that date an annual public holiday for the entire country.

For the moment, December 27, 2009, has been announced as a nationwide public holiday, but only for this year (13-Nov-2008).
