Wednesday, January 9 has been proclaimed as a legal Muslim holiday in Region 12. All city government employees (muslims and non-muslims) will be excused from work on that day on the occasion of the Islamic New Year.
In unrelated news, January 9 has also been declared a special non-working holiday in Pangasinan to mark the celebration of Pangasinan Veterans' Day in that province.
