President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA) issued a directive making Wednesday, October 1, 2008, a regular holiday throughout the country, on the occasion of the Eid al Fitr (End of Ramadan) Muslim religious festival. The directive was issued under Proclamation number 1625, released by Malacañang earlier this morning.
Note that the aforementioned announced date is contrary to the date of Tuesday, September 30, 2008, that had been posted on the official websites of the government of the Philippines for months.
