Reacting to the many queries received about what weekday would be a public holiday, as November 1st falls on a Saturday in 2008, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita re-stated that both Friday, October 31, and Monday, November 3, 2008, would be regular working days.
This hard stance is similar to that of 2006 (24-Oct-2006). Secretary Ermita, however, said that traditionally (14-Oct-2003), government agencies allow their respective employees to work half-day on October 31 in order to enable them to go home to their provinces for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls Day.
