Earlier today, Executive Secretary, Eduardo Ermita, said that he would consult with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to determine if Friday, January 2, 2009, should be declared a public holiday in the Philippines.

If so, the Philippines would benefit from 11 consecutive days of public holidays, as the period of December 25 to January 1 are already declared public holidays (20-Nov-2008).
