Extremadura's first vice-president and spokesperson, , Dolores Pallero, announced the release of the 2009 calendar of regional public holidays for the autonomous region of Extremadura.

There were no changes to the usually chosen regional public holidays in Extremadura, and as many other regions of Spain have done for 2009, the governing council declared Monday, November 2nd, and Monday, December 7th, 2009, as regional public holidays, due to November 1st and December 6th falling on a Sunday in 2009.

In addition to these regional and national public holidays, each municipality is entitled to declare 2 additional municipal public holidays, and these will be published in the Diario Oficial de Extremadura.
