The presidency of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) is calling for a restoration of the May 22, Republic Day public holiday.
The May 22, Republic Day public holiday, which commemorates the adoption of a new constitution in 1972, was celebrated as an official public holiday between 1972 and 1977.
