Sudan's GOSS ministry of Labour, Public Services and Human Resources Development, has declared eight days of regional public holidays, from December 5 to December 12, 2008.
This was done to allow Southern Sudanese to commemorate the day, on December 5, 2005, when President Salva Kiir Mayardit signed and promulgated the Constitution of Southern Sudan into law.
Apparently that date, December 5, has also been adopted and passed by GOSS lawmakers to be observed annually (presumably as a one-day public holiday only).
Note that the 8-days of regional public holidays announced overlap the 4-day Eid al-Adha public holidays to be observed nationwide from December 7 to December 10.
