Thailand's Government spokesman, Natthawut Saikua, has announced that the cabinet had decided to cancel the December 15-18 regional public holiday in Chiang Mai has been canceled.

This came after Thailand's cabinet had agreed to Foreign Minister Sompong Amornvivat's proposal to postpone the ASEAN+6 summit scheduled for December 15-18 in Chiang Mai (05-Nov-2008), due to uncertainty over the amount of time available to prepare for the summit and worried participant countries.

The ASEAN Summit has tentatively been re-scheduled for March 2009.
