Turkey's government says it will again commemorate workers' day on May 1, starting in 2008, after a 28 year hiatus, but government spokesman Cemil Cicek says May Day will not be a public holiday.
This statement follows the recent submission to Parliament by AK Party deputy, Agah Kafkas, of a proposal for May 1 to be restored as a public holiday in Turkey (19-Apr-2008).
