Turkmenistan's President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, has signed into law recent changes made by the national parliament to the Labour Code of Turkmenistan, thus restoring the March 8, International Women's Day, to the list of official public holidays.

A few years ago (02-Mar-2003), Turkmenistan's previous president, Saparmyrat Nyyazow, had decreed that, henceforth, the annual Women's Day public holiday would be moved from March 8 to March 20, to be combined into a 3-day annual Spring Holiday public holiday (19-Mar-2003).
