The Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine has passed a resolution specifying the official list of 2009 public holidays.
In a move similar to that of 2005 (23-Dec-2005) and 2007 (29-Nov-2007), the Cabinet of Ministers recommended that all employees of the public and private sector (except for banks) be given the period of January 1-7 as public holidays, with the one-off public holidays of January 2, 5, and 6, being compensated by having the Saturdays on January 10, January 24 and February 6, made into normal working days (there is no compensation for January 7th, as it is already an annual public holiday in the Ukraine).
