Local media sources in Antigua and Barbuda expect Friday, March 13, 2009, the day after today's general elections, to be declared a one-off public holiday, "regardless of which party wins".
Declaring a public holiday on the day after an election is quite a common practice in the caribbean (see, for example, Barbados, 17-Jan-2008, 21-May-2003, and Grenada 09-Jul-2008, 27-Nov-2003, and 21-Oct-2003).
