The State Government of the Australian State of Tasmania has finally announced it will introduce legislation creating a Monday day in lieu public holiday when ANZAC Day (April 25) falls on a Sunday, or a Tuesday when the day coincides with Easter Monday.
As mentioned when we first reported on the Tasmanian government plans (03-Oct-2008 and 15-Jan-2009), the legislation will not add a long weekend when ANZAC Day falls on a Saturday, as it does this year.
The proposed bill also seems to answer the question raised by the CAF agreeement, that of what happens in the Australian state of Tasmania when the ANZAC Day public holiday moves to the next Tuesday due to Easter being late, as Easter Tuesday is already a public holiday in Tasmania.
