Bulgaria's Labour and Social Policy Minister, Emilia Maslarova, announced that at today's Cabinet session, it was decided to declare May 4 and May 5, 2009, as official public holidays, thus creating a 6-day public holiday stretching from May Day to St George's Day on May 6.
To compensate these 2 additional public holidays, 2 Saturdays, April 25 and May 9, have been declared to be regular working days in 2009.
Today's announcement is is a reversal of the decision announced after last week's Cabinet session (12-Feb-2009) not to declare public holidays to bridge the span between the May 1st and May 6th public holidays, as had been done often in the past (11-Jan-2008 and 06-Mar-2003).
