Burkina Faso's Minister for Public Service and State Reform (ministre de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme de l’Etat), Soungalo Ouattara, announced that the government had declared next Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, 2009, to be non-working public holidays.
Monday, March 9th, will be a one-off day of recuperation for the population, following the week-long FESPACO film festival (Festival panafricain du cinéma et de télévision de Ouagadougou).
Tuesday, March 10th, will be the celebration of the Prophet's Birthday public holiday, which was moved from its previously announced date of March 9th. For some reason, the Prophet's Birthday public holiday seems to be the one that the government of Burkina Faso tends to tinker with the most as it did in 2008 and 2007 (30-Mar-2007).
