A communique, by Burkina Faso's Ministère du Travail et de la Sécurité Sociale, has announced that Monday, November 2, 2009, had been declared a day in lieu public holiday.

This declaration, similar in spirit to that of last spring (07-Mar-2009), follows from the "Loi n° 019-2000/AN du 27 juin 2000 portant institution de fêtes légales au Burkina Faso" (21-Jul-2000), as amended a year later (18-Jul-2001), which specifies that when some of Burkina Faso's official public holidays fall on a Sunday, then the next day shall be a non-working public holiday (obligatoirement chômé et payé).
