(Posted on Friday, January 23, 2009)

Source: Interfax TMT China (Shanghai)

Commodity, financial and stock markets in mainland China will close from Saturday, January 24 to Sunday, February 1, 2009, due to the Chinese New Year holiday.

This covers both the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges, the futures exchanges in Shanghai, Dalian and Zhengzhou, along with various spot markets.

Note that the above dates correspond to 2 days more than the Lunar New Year public holidays dates announced by the Chinese government (10-Dec-2008), which specified that both Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, February 1, 2009, were to be regular working days throughout China.
