The annual Juan Santamaría procession will occur on Monday, April 13, instead of the annual date of April 11, as April 11, 2009, coincides with Holy Saturday. As such, Monday, April 13, 2009, will be a one-off public sector holiday in Alajuela.
However, the Ministry of Labour, announced that April 13 would not be a nationwide public holiday, based on the Labour Code amendments of 1996 (17-Jul-1996) and 2005 (17-Mar-2005).
