Jamaica's Information Service has issued a release stating that, in 2009, the Emancipation Day public holiday would be observed on Saturday, August 1st.
This follows a statement, made yesterday, by Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles, which suggested that Emancipation Day would be celebrated on Monday, August 3, instead (02-Apr-2009).
