Naeem Trafana, the head of the Islamic Sheikhdom in Kosovo, has announced that the first day of the month of Ramadan would be Friday, August 21, 2009, in conjunction with Macedonia, Bosnia, and Albania.
This concerted effort was begun last year (05-Aug-2008), and is apparently taking its cue from the Turkish DIB Muslim Calendar, meaning that Kosovo will start Ramadan one day earlier than many countries, but will, in all likelihood, observe the End of Ramadan public holiday on September 20, 2009, the same date as most other countries (05-Aug-2009).
