The government of Laos has confirmed that there is to be an extended public sector holiday over the upcoming Pi Mai Lao (Lao New Year) this year, from Monday to Friday, April 13-17, 2009.
To compensate for the 2 extra days of public holidays (April 16 and 17) civil servants will have had to work on two Saturdays; April 4 and April 11, 2009.
