The government of Lebanon has declared both Easter Mondays (Catholic and Orthodox) as one-off public holidays for 2009 (both Good Fridays are already annual public holidays in Lebanon).
This is an interesting development. In 2007 the government had tried to cancel both Good Friday public holidays and replace them with Easter Monday (24-Jun-2007) but faced with a furore in the public opinion (25-Jun-2007) it quickly reversed itself and cancelled all changes (26-Jun-2007).
