Macau Declares New Year's Eve Public Holiday

(Posted on Friday, March 27, 2009)

Macau's Chief Executive has declared a one-off, half-day, public holiday for the afternoon of Friday, December 31, 2010.

This announcement, following a trend started a couple of years ago (14-Jul-2006, 13-Mar-2007, and 23-Apr-2008), was made under the purview of the "Decree Law No. 60/2000 on Public Holidays", and is presumably meant to compensate the fact that the New Year's Day public holiday for 2011, falls on a weekend.
