Mongolia's Parliament has approved a legislative agenda for the spring of 2009, which includes "Draft amendments to the law on national holidays and remarkable days".
Although details on the draft amendment are not available yet, based on our monitoring of the Mongolian news media over the last years, we think that no new public holidays are being considered, but that the amendments will address the issue of the calculation of the Tsagaan Sar date, which in the past has led to conflicting announcements, some by a day (30-Jan-2008) and some even by a month (as was the case in 2004).
