Uganda's opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Democratic Party have criticised the NRM Liberation Day celebrations saying that this public holiday is a partisan day and should be scrapped off the list of national holidays.

The January 26 NRM Liberation Day public holiday commemorates the date when, in 1986, President Yoweri Museveni became the 9th President of the Republic of Uganda.
