The government of Uruguay has announced that it will enter discussions with the private sectors concerning a proposal by labor unions to reduce working hours as a way to ease the impact of the global financial crisis.
Uruguay's largest workers' union (PIT-CNT), has proposed a six-hour working day in selected sectors, along with corresponding wage cuts.
