During the night from Sunday to Monday, the Governor of Venezuela's Sucre State, Enrique Maestre, decreed that Monday, February 16, 2009, would be a one-off public holiday to celebrate the Referendum victory of President Hugo Chavez.
This is the second sycophantic declaration of a state-wide public holiday in Venezuela by a governor this month (04-Feb-2009).
This morning, there were reports in the Russian media (RIA Novosti) that the entire week had been declared public holidays, nationwide, to celebrate the victory of the Yes camp in Sunday's referendum. However, these reports seem baseless.
