Madagascar's Haute autorité de transition (HAT) has issued the décret n°2010-016 du 14 janvier 2010, which declares Friday, January 15, 2010, as a one-off public sector holiday.
The decree stipulates a public sector holiday (tous les services publics seront fermés toute la journée sur toute l’étendue du territoire de Madagascar) and encourages the private sector to follow suit (quant aux entreprises privées, elles prendront les dispositions y afférentes selon leurs propres organisations).
This coincides with the day of mourning declared after the death of Cardinal Armand Gaétan Razafindratandra, on January 9, 2010.
