Nicaragua Declares July 20 Public Sector Holiday

(Posted on Friday, July 9, 2010)

Nicaragua's Minister of Labour (Ministra del Poder Ciudadano para los Trabajadores), Jeannette Chávez, has announced that Tuesday, July 20, 2010, would be a one-off public sector holiday on the occasion of this year's Revolution Day Anniversary (31 aniversario del triunfo de la Revolución Sandinista).

Contrary to what happened in May (29-May-2010) and last year (15-Jul-2009), the published decree contains no justification for this additional, fully paid public sector holiday (se declara asueto con goce de salario el día martes 20 de julio para los trabajadores del sector público).
