Philippines Declares June 24 Public Holiday In Capital

(Posted on Tuesday, June 22, 2010)

Source: Philippine Daily Inquirer (Manila)

Jay Marzan, the City Administrator of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, has announced that, earlier today, the Manila government had declared Thursday, June 24, 2010, Araw ng Maynila, a non-working public holiday in the city.

Technically, this municipal public holiday is not annual, and needs to be proclaimed every year, but in the past this has become a formality (see, for example, 21-Jun-2009 and 16-Jun-2008).
