The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Labour has announced that the upcoming "Nuestra Señora de Las Mercedes" public holiday would remain on its fixed date of September 24.

The aforementioned announcement by the Dirección General de Trabajo del Ministerio de Trabajo was based on the law 139-97 (19-Jun-1997) which stipulates that some public holidays are moved to another weekday depending on the weekday on which they occur, but not all as is the case for religious holidays.
