(Posted on Monday, October 1, 2012)

Source: The Central Bank of Egypt (Cairo)

Egypt's Central Bank has announced that all Egyptian banks would be closed on Sunday, October 7, 2012, which has been declared a bank holiday in Egypt on account of the upcoming, October 6, Armed Forces Day public holiday.

The declaration of a one-off bank holiday by the Central Bank of Egypt when a non-working public holiday falls on a Friday or Saturday, is common (29-Jan-2012, 04-Jan-2012, 24-Nov-2011, 20-Jul-2011 and 05-Jan-2011), though not systematic.
