Malaysian Sabah Public Holiday April 11

(Posted on Wednesday, March 7, 2012)

The Chief Minister of Malaysia's state of Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, has announced that following its weekly cabinet meeting, the state government of Sabah had decided to also declare Wednesday, April 11, 2012, as a one-off non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming installation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (Malaysia's King).

Last month (24-Feb-2012), the Malaysian Federal Government had announced that Wednesday, April 11, 2012, had been declared as a one-off non-working national public holiday throughout Malaysia on the day when the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, will be installed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia).

However due to the peculiarities of Malaysia's public holidays legislation, even in the case of national public holidays declarations, the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak must officially declare these national public holidays separately.
