The Bahamas' Prime Minister, Perry Gladstone Christie, has announced that the Bahamas Cabinet would consider declaring January 10 as a new "Majority Rule" annual non-working public holiday in the Bahamas, starting in 2014.

According to the Prime Minister's speech, "Majority Rule is arguably the most important event in the country's history with the exception of the Abolition of Slavery and Independence".
