The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has announced that, as per the federal Law on Public Holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the annual, 2-day, New Year, non-working public holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will run from Sunday, January 1, until Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

As per the aforementioned announcement that the annual, May Day, non-working public holidays of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, would run from Sunday, January 1, until Tuesday, January 3, 2017, the Bosnian public holidays legislation (Official Gazette of SFRJ, number 6/73), stipulates that "New Year is a holiday that is being marked for two days, on January 1 and 2" and that "if one of the days when the New Year is celebrated is on Sunday, then the first day after those two days is considered non-working".
